SnakeMaster Steve Scruggs will be presenting a special show, sponsored by Norris Shoe Store, at 8 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Open to the general public, the show “will include live rattlesnakes and educational demonstrations about Wildlife Conservation, Survival Skills, Trees & Forestry, and Frogs and Toads” (www.cityofdouglas.com). Steve is the founder of “Let’s Get Wild,” an educational program that helps children learn about nature. Because of his travels and studies abroad, he has an extensive knowledge to share, particularly about reptiles. He has studied snakes since the age of 7 and made his frst presentation at age 16. He does not use exotic animals in his presentations but wants to show participants what they can expect to fnd in their own backyards. Make a Break Sporting Clays Competition will be held Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Top Shots Sporting Clays Club. Participants will be divided into two age groups, and the top shooters in each age group will receive a new gun. Competition fees apply; for more information call 912-384-0060. The Department of Natural Resources will be presenting a Hunter Safety Education Workshop on Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Central Square Complex (Magnolia Room). The two-hour event is open to participants ages 10 and up; interested students must complete an online course through the DNR web site before the workshop in order to complete course certifcation. Van McCall’s “God in the Hunt,” a hunting Southern style workshop, will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Central Square Complex (Diamond

Room). This event is open to all ages. “God in the Hunt” is a nonproft ministry begun by Van McCall in 2005. The mission of the organization is to “invest into the lives of youth by reinforcing biblical principles through the sport of hunting. This mission is carried out through various hunting and shooting activities, which incorporate Gospel Ministry” (www.cityofdouglas. com).

Other events include a World Record Display by Outdoor Channel Outftters, BB Gun Range by National Wild Turkey Federation, Georgia State Patrol and Douglas Police Department Impaired Driving Simulator, Camping Exhibition by Boy Scouts of America, Wildlife Education Exhibits by DNR, Fishing and Laser Shot Simulators by DNR and Georgia Hunting & Fishing Federation, Petting Zoo by General Coffee State Park, and Archery & Wild

Skins Educational Exhibit by DNR. In addition, the event will feature a mechanical bull, water slides, and other family activities. All types of vendors and exhibitors will be on hand to provide information and good food, including alligator on a stick, funnel cake, and sausage dogs.

A number of prizes will be given away throughout the event. Hunting trips and gear, a gas cooker, two gas grills, three customized leather belts, t shirts and videos as well as many other items have been donated.

“We have the exhibitors, we have the giveaways, we have the food, and we have the fun, hands-on activities for children and adults,” says Georgia Henderson, Central Services Director. “Now we need the community to take an active part in the Expo by coming out to show their support!” CCM
