The Chinese philosopher Confucius once said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work another day in your life.” For Laura Chaney, this holds true in her life. Her job as an ambulatory large animal veterinarian is not only her profession but also it is her passion. Her love for animals began early in her life. When she was a little girl, her parents Bob and Teresa Chaney, raised Laura and her sister Lydia in a world flled with creatures of all kinds. By living on a farm, they were able to have dogs, cats, horses, and rabbits. They even had birds, hamsters, and fsh as occasional pets. Laura remembers raising a possum after a dog had killed its mother and left it as an orphan. Of course, that is one of the animals that Laura’s mother was not crazy about having around the house. Even with the possum incident, Teresa never stifed Laura’s love of animals. In fact, she and Bob encouraged it. Teresa had been involved in showing horses for many years. She participated in Georgia Federation horse shows and encouraged Laura to join her.

For Laura Chaney, doing what she loves

and is passionate

about just happens to be her job.
