Not every student who has received a scholarship from the Foundation has gone on to become a surgeon. The Foundation has helped thousands of students become nurses, teachers, business leaders, coaches, ministers, biologists, chemists, social workers, police offcers, and countless other professions.
The Foundation has enhanced education through other avenues as well. Most recently, the Foundation was involved in public-private ventures that supported the construction of the Tiger Village I and II residence halls, which have the potential to bring as many as 600 residential students to campus. Through athletic scholarships, the Foundation also is instrumental in bringing talented men and women from the United States and abroad to South Georgia College. Other athletic support includes providing monetary assistance for uniforms, equipment and facilities as well as helping with the expansion of those programs. The Foundation also played pivotal roles in the renovations of the SGC Wellness Center (which houses Coffee County’s only indoor swimming pool) in 2003, W.A. Crider Field/George A. Cook Stadium in 2004, Stubbs Hall in 2006, the Clower Student Center in 2007, and the new dining hall in 2011. All of these are multi-million dollar projects that would not have
