When asked about her favorite memory, Mary Lea was quick to answer, “Quiet Time.” She went on to explain that the youth were given a dedicated time for daily prayer and meditation. The kids looked forward to this time and during those meditative moments some found their Salvation. “I still love seeing each kid fnd a special place in nature to pray and deepen their bond with Jesus. It is voluntary and beautiful.”

For Ken, it is the fruit of the spirit that he enjoys so much. “Those that graduate from high school, apply to come back as Huddle Leaders for the junior high age kids. They stay in touch, so we hear that this one has started a street ministry, and that the next is a youth minister and yet another has started a new FCA Huddle. We’ve begun to see the second generation attend FCA, and we are blessed”, said Ken.

Mary Lea, known simply as “Momma” to countless area athletes, said it best. “We have a heart for these young people.”  MLM

In June 1983, Ken and Mary Lea along with Eddie and Nadine McHugh took sixteen kids for the frst time to FCA Camp in Estes Park, Colorado. More than twenty fve road trips and hundreds of relationships later, the couple still make the annual pilgrimage to FCA camp, now held at Lake Texoma. Camps are a time of “inspiration and perspiration” for athletes and coaches to reach their potential by offering comprehensive athletic, spiritual and leadership training.
