With all the headlines banks have generated over the past few years, I am often asked how Western National Bank is different. What should a customer consider when deciding which bank to use?

Here are fve simple suggestions that I believe are critical:

Western National Bank is the largest locally owned bank in the Permian Basin. We take our position seriously—and never take it for granted. When you are in the market for a bank, give us a call and let us show you what we can do for you.

Western National Bank

Local, strong and independent— we will continue to earn your trust.

1

Pick a bank that is fnancially sound.

This seems sort of obvious, right? But in fact, given the record number of banks that have failed or been subject to regulatory constraints, customers cannot assume their bank is fscally healthy. So ask questions, look at the bank’s fnancial statements, and do a little homework to ensure the bank you pick will be here today and tomorrow.

2

Pick a bank that is invested in the community.

The frst word in Western National Bank’s tag line is “Local,” and we take the responsibility of being local very seriously. What does it mean to be local and invested in the community? It means to support local organiza-tions, to be present at events, to hire local people, to invest in the infrastructure of the community. It means to be a leader, not just an observer. So fnd a bank that doesn’t just take; it also gives.

3

Pick a bank with a clean parking lot.

What does a clean parking lot say about the bank? It says that the bank pays attention to details, that it cares about your experi-ence from the moment you arrive, that it takes pride in its presentation as a community business. You expect your fnancial business to be handled with care, so why settle for a bank that looks sloppy?

4

Pick a bank that other people trust.

The number one infuence for most purchases is a recommendation from someone you trust. The same holds true for picking a bank. Have you seen the testimonial spots WNB has been running on TV and in the paper? We value the good words of our customers, and realize we cannot take their good will for granted. When considering where you will bank, consider what people say—people you know and trust.

5

Pick a bank that is connected.

Do you need to fnd a good CPA? Or attorney? Or engineering frm? A beneft of banking at a strong local bank is that it will be well-connected with movers and shakers throughout the community. This means you can turn to your banker when you are looking for a resource or a referral. Or maybe just a good cup of coffee.
