After hours, Beal and Stimmel put their heads together on a different project – creating the Midland Polo Club. Both men were active polo players in California and saw great potential for more players in a city where horsemanship is so valued. In 1962, the club was opened up to the Midland community.

Jim and Marcie Stimmel have retired and returned home to California, but their legacy continues in Midland. Their son, Harley, was practically raised at the polo club and cultivated his seemingly genetic talent for the sport as a boy. Today, he remains a fxture of the
