CLOCKWISE FROM TOP The famous lobby of the Hotel Scharbauer in the l940s with its ornate furniture and carpets. The l953 renovation included modernizing and enlarging the coffee shop. A balcony opened off the second foor Crystal Ballroom. Clarence Scharbauer (right side, second from front) and friends enjoy steaks in one the hotel’s private dining rooms. The exterior didn’t change in the l960s, but the cars and fashions did!
