On a beautiful Fall evening, The Wayne County Junior Service League hosted the frst Camoufage and Cocktails Gala to beneft Fair Haven Shelter and projects that the League undertakes in the community. The event was held under large tents among huge mossy oak trees at the home of Dr. Ross and Susan Goehring.

The Wayne County Junior Service League is a group of community women who dedicate their time and efforts to the betterment of the educational, economic, cultural and civic conditions of our community. The organization prepares meals for Tabitha’s Place, assists Fair Haven and The Children’s Advocacy Center, provides Christmas for serveral local school children and awards scholarships for graduating seniors.

Fair Haven is a 12 bed shelter for women and their children who have fed abusive and unsafe homes. The non-proft agency provides a safe homelike setting along with food, clothing, transportation and programs that guide clients towards their future which may include furthering their education, obtaining a job and locating housing. Fair Haven will be using the funds generated from the Gala to go towards a shelter building fund to expand or build a new shelter to ease the daily conditions for clients at the shelter with one bathroom and a small kitchen at an always full shelter.

The Gala netted over $16,000 which will all go back into serving those with needs in the community.
