“We decided to have a two week camp in order to gauge the level of interest,” states Tyre. “We had a total of 17 campers which was more than anticipated. The Altamaha Children’s Community Theater is alive and thriving thanks to the new direction of
several local Wayne County natives.
A
Altamaha Children’s Community Theater began in 1995 to give the children of Wayne County an opportunity to perform. Some of the productions included “Wizard of Oz,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Peter Pan,” and many other childhood classics. This institution had been inactive since 2003; however, this summer it was revived with new direction. Ms. Kerri Pinder, Ms. Courtney Tyre, and Mrs. Jennifer Young, all Wayne County natives, were given the reins of the summer theater program.
