passed a truck the other day that had a bumper sticker that read, “I’d Rather Be Fishing!” I smiled as I drove by thinking about all the avid hunters and fshermen that call Wayne County their home. You do not have to look far to see an abundance of dog boxes, fshing poles or camoufage tree stands this time of year. Wayne County takes pride in her natural resources and we have one of our own working hard to ensure that our grandchildren can enjoy them in years to come. Mark Williams is the newly appointed Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources and you will have great diffculty fnding someone more dedicated to preserving Georgia’s assets. However, it is not a job that he envisioned himself in when he frst started out. Mark graduated from Georgia College and State University in 1986 with a BA in Biology. He began his work career in his own home town as a high school science teacher and football coach at Valdosta High School.
